August 2015: Tips, eNews & More!

Back to school! Shh...say it ain't so!

Yes, it is that time of year again. But don't worry, there is still plenty of warm weather left and lots to do.

Once the Parapan Am games are over, the CNE grounds will be flooded with fun rides, carnival games, and the gluttonous concoctions of the (in)famous food building. With so many unique treats to choose from (remember last year's chocolate fried chicken?), it's easy to overindulge. So be sure to take care of your teeth before and after your visit. Brush before you go, chew sugar-free gum after eating, and be sure to brush and floss when you get home.

Are you heading off to school next month?

Many post-secondary institutions offer health plans that include dental coverage. If you are enrolled in a post-secondary program, remember to look into the coverage offered to you. Your new school schedule may keep you busy, but always remember to make your oral health a priority.

Knowing that school will alter your schedule, now may be a good time come in for a cleaning and examination. Click here to request an appointment.

Join Us in the End Women's Cancer Walk!

To our wonderful patients,

For the last 8 out of 9 years, there have been a group of us that have walked alongside other participants in the 60 km Weekend to End Women's Cancer walk, benefiting the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Each year the participants raise millions of dollars that go to research at the Princess Margaret hospital, one of the leading research facilities in the world, to aid in the search for a cure for all women's cancers. This year the walk has changed to a 1 day 25km walk.

Once again, Jacquie and Heather S. will be participating in the walk around the streets of Toronto. Now the 1 day, 25km walk is for ALL cancers and we hope that the funds we raise will help researchers find a cure that could end this disease that affects so many people around the world, no matter who or where they are.

We are walking for our families, our friends and our patients that have been affected by cancer. In the 8 years that our group has walked, we have raised over $100,000!

Combat Tooth Decay!

When it comes to battling tooth decay, prevention is the key...

Tooth Decay describes the break down of strong healthy teeth over time.

Your tooth's surface is composed of a hard mineral coating called enamel. Enamel is the hardest tissue in your body, but it is by no means indestructible. Actually, enamel is almost constantly exposed to plaque producing bacteria. Plaque is the substance that covers your teeth and eats away at the enamel causing the holes known as cavities.
